It's the second half of the 1800's and the Wild West is still Wild. Just outside of the town of Apache, Arizona lies the Lost Dutchman Coal Mine, which is served by the 30 inch narrow gauge Superstition Mountain Railroad. From the town of Apache, the Superstition Mountain Railroad twists and climbs into the nearby Superstition Mountains to serve the isolated Superstition Mountain Coal Mine, and serves as the only connection to the outside world. The Superstition Mountain Railroad transports coal from the Superstition Mountain Coal Mine to Apache, where it is transfered to the 3 foot narrow gauge Phoenix and Apache Railroad. Supplies for the Superstition Mountain Coal Mine are transfered from the 3 foot narrrow gauge Phoenix and Apache Railroad to the 30 in narrow gauge Superstition Mountain Railroad At Apache. People living at the company town at Superstation Coal Mine use the Superstition Mountain Railroad to get to Apache to go shopping and to transfer to the 3 foot gauge Phoenix and Apache to travel to the outside world.
