Waterloo Bridge
The Waterloo Bridge in London as designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, was opened in 1945 to replace the orignal 1809 bridge, which had serious structural problems.
The bridge was of a box girder construction, clad in reinforced concrete and Portland Stone to make the beams look as much like arches as possible, resulting in a clean, sleek, functional looking bridge.
