Dalmunzie - Glenlochsie 1978

This session shows the operation of the Dalmunzie railway in it's last year. The line was operated by two Simplex locos when it opened in 1922, however only one named DALMUNZIE existed after GLENLOCHSIE was badly damaged in 1963. Remarkably DALMUNZIE still exists today with the carriages and wagons used on the line. These are all located in a museum at the back of Dalmunzie House. Trains would leave Dalmunzie House at 1000 marked by the sounding of a bell and preceeded by a horse and handler that walked the line in front of the train. On reaching it's destination at Glenlochsie Lodge the Simplex loco would be released by pushing the carriage out of the way into the siding. It then carried on back down the line to Dalmunzie loco shed. The carriage would follow as a gravity train when required, each carriage and wagon had it's own independant brake similar to that of the loco. Thanks to edh6 for custom building the rolling stock and nawlins who helped represent this challenging mode of operation for Trainz.
