Effingham Electric RR

This route is a fictional electrified version of the Effingham Railroad in Effingham, Illinois, USA, circa 2012. The Effingham Electric RR is a small industrial route that services a transloading facility, a large warehousing and shipping company, a cement factory, and two large food processing facilities in addition to several bulk loading and transfer tracks. Commodities it handles include crushed stone, paper, lumber, steel coils, pipe, liquid fuels, agricultural equipment and supplies, flour and sugar, grains and cooking oils, and general goods. It interchanges daily with the CSX Transportation Railroad on its north end and with the Canadian National Railroad on its south end.

This route includes a somewhat simplified version of the CSXT and CN trackage through Effingham, including the CN and CSXT yards, the CN/CSXT crossing, the CN/CSXT interchange tracks, and the Amtrak station on the CN line. Portals are included for both these railroads, including a CN branch line to the east, for use in simulating nearby Class 1 traffic and the setting out and picking up of interchange cars.

The northern part of the Effingham Electric trackage parallels the CN/CSXT interchange track; after it passes the Total Quality Warehouse, it then parallels the CN track. For the sake of operational interest, the Hodgson Mills facility on this route is rail-served, though it seems this is no longer the case on the prototype. Customers on the route serviced by open cars are equipped with interactive industries; others are indicated by track marks.
